Planning a surprise proposal photoshoot is always fun, from choosing the location and trying your best to time everything. They’re never the same. Andrew and Elena’s surprise engagement photos were taken in Pacific Spirit Park, just beside the University of British Columbia. The general location was easy to choose as this was a spot that both of them had frequented quite a bit in the past for their walks and runs. It’s a very large area and beautiful if you’re looking to go for a walk within the city by yourself, a friend, or your furry-legged pet (there are a lot plenty of off-leash dogs). Andrew and I scouted out the area a few weeks in advance and figured out what area he would drop down on one knee and propose. I say that because no matter how much you plan, the weather always turns out to be slightly different. Come the day of the shoot, there was a lot of smoke being blown down from forest fires north of Vancouver. This made for some very interesting light that day within the forest. The skies were cloudy orange and the light streamed into the forest as if there was a light fog. Here are a few from the day.
