I get a call in the summer and Rob tells me he wants to do this surprise engagement with his girlfriend and it involved a helicopter. It was a quick conversation. He liked the photos on my website and asked if I’d be interested but he’d have to work out the timing details and get back to me. I thought, helicopter? Of course I said yes! I had never been in a helicopter before so I thought heck this would be fun and the images we’d capture, wherever we were going, would be amazing. A few weeks later I showed up at the helipad downtown where the SKY helicopter was waiting for us. It happened to be Salma’s birthday the same day and Rob wanted to surprise her with a ride up to the mountains and some portraits of the two of them. The purpose (or excuse) seemed to have worked, she never knew she was going to get proposed to. We ended up flying east of Vancouver close to Maple Ridge up into some mountains accessible only by helicopter. We set the SKY helicopter down by the beach and took a stroll where Rob later proposed to Salma. The setting was beautiful and we were the only people around. Below are some of the images from our quick excursion. I hope you enjoy them as much I did!
